Year 2012 was especially successful for “Riga Black Balsam
Currant”- export sales grew by more than a half or 61%, but

the demand for “Riga Black Balsam” grew by 9% last year.
“Special recognition among the consumers has been earned by
“Riga Black Balsam Currant”, for which production was started in
2009. Last year the sales results of this drink both in Latvia and

Balsam Currant the USA. Thus, we can state with reasonable
confidence that the 260th jubilee year of “Riga Black
Balsam” has passed honourably,” says JSC “Latvijas Balzams” Brand

Every fourth bottle of Balsam or 24% of the total production
volume, was made for export last year. “Riga Black Balsam” was
available on 22 export markets, including the Duty Free Zone, with
the total export volume reaching 283 743 litres. Last year

and Georgia.
“The consistent increase of the sales figures shows that “Riga
Black Balsam” products have the potential for further growth also
this year, therefore we will actively work on export network
development. We are looking with optimism at the markets of Europe
and Central Asia – Poland, Great Britain, Kaliningrad Region, as
well as Kazakhstan, Georgia and Azerbaijan,” states Justs Dzedons,
Export Director of JSC “Latvijas Balzams”
