“Latvijas balzams”: we are planning to increase production after the orders of SPI Group

The largest producer of alcoholic beverages in Baltics JSC “Latvijas balzams” informs about planned increase of production based on SPI Group orders next year. Company continues to invest to further develop production of SPI Group products, consequently looking forward to growth.

JSC “Latvijas balzams” denies the inconsiderate statement published today by several local media prognosticating the decrease of “Latvijas balzams” production next year.

“We consider this information as a groundless guesswork that is not based on real situation. “ Latvijas balzams” don’t have any grounded reasons to think about cease of “Stolichnaya” and “Moskovskaya” production. Therefore we evaluate these public news as unjustified and inconsiderate”, says Dana Hasana, The Head of Communications of JSC “Latvijas balzams”.

Chairman of the Board and General director of AS Latvijas balzams Guntis Āboltiņš – Āboliņš highlights:

“Today the product portfolio of JSC“Latvijas balzams” is sufficiently profitable – it consists of more than 100 different brands of alcoholic beverages, which represent almost all beverage categories. Concurrently to SPI Group export orders the Company has its own export network, each year growing and developing. Also, this year’s nine months results are encouraging – despite growing competition and a significant share of shadow economy, this year we have worked with increase in profit and sales.”

“Therefore, it seems to me absolutely incorrect to draw conclusions and predictions loud in the public space as a threat to production volume of “Latvijas balzams”, based on theoretical speculations and scenarios”,
considers Chairman of the Board Guntis Āboltiņš – Āboliņš.

JSC “Latvijas balzams” unaudited turnover in the first nine months of 2012 has increased by 8%, reaching 50.3 million lats. Turnover in domestic market has increased by 7.7%.

JSC “Latvijas balzams” unaudited profit for nine months of this year is 2.5 million lats, which is by 19% more than in the same period of 2011.

JSC “Latvijas balzams” is one of the leading Latvian exporters – its products are available in more than 160 countries through SPI Group and in more than 30 countries worldwide through direct export.

The company employs more than 600 employees. The company is one of the largest taxpayers in Latvia. In the first nine months of 2012 AS “Latvijas balzams” has paid to the state budget 26.3 million lats in taxes, including 18.3 million lats as excise tax.
