For the first time Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT) has received the internationally recognized occupational health and safety management certificate OHSAS 18001, which is granted for three years. As a result of the comprehensive audit, it has also repeatedly obtained certificates ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. “The obtainment of the occupational safety certificate, which has been issued to us by the international certification organization Bureau Veritas Certification, acknowledges that the terminal is working pursuant to the best business practice and is taking care of the safety of both its employees and the environment at the terminal,” emphasizes Lars Pantzlaff, the Managing Director of VNT. “We have obtained three internationally recognized certificates, which are issued only after serious evaluation and audit of companies. That shows that our work is of good quality and meets the highest requirements.” The international quality management standard ISO 9001 certificate issued by the international certification organization Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) is related to the manner of organizing work in the company and provides for specific requirements, the fulfilment of which guarantees conformity of the company’s provided services to certain quality. In turn the objective of the environment management standard ISO 14001 is to create an effective environment management system in the company, thus ensuring the systematic and planned handling of environmental issues, and attesting the company’s understanding of environmental problems and its commitment to deal with them in accordance with high environmental standards. This is already the fifth certification period for both ISO standards, in turn the occupational health and safety certificate is received for the first time by VNT.
