The revamping process of the melt shop at JSC Liepājas metalurgs is progressing in accordance with the planned implementation schedule. Consequently, the outdated open hearth technology is replaced by the electric steelmaking complex comprised of the 100-ton EAF, the 100-ton LF, the water treatment plant, the de-dusting plant, the 110 kV substation, and the compensating unit. The hot tests of the new complex began on the August,17th.

The general contractor of the project is STG Group S.p.A.
