On July 1, 2010, amendments to the Latvian Immigration Law came into force, providing for new possibilities of obtaining a residence permit in Latvia. According to the amendments, a non-resident of Latvia placing a subordinated deposit of over 200.000.00 LVL (≥ 300.000.00 EUR; ≥ 400.000.00 USD) for 5 years can claim for a temporary residence permit in Latvia for the term of the deposit.
