The Parex Bank is pleased to announce that a highly qualified security specialist, Uldis Dzenītis, has joined the bank’s staff today.  He was one of the founders of Latvia’s Bureau to Protect the Constitution (SAB), and his advice, given his unique knowledge about the legal aspects of the country’s security institutions, is highly appreciated and valued at other national security institutions, as well.

At the Parex Bank, Dzenītis will head up the Security Department. His brief includes internal security matters, as well as protection of the bank’s economic interests. Thus, the obtained exclusive experience and knowledge in public sector U. Dzenītis will use for the protection of state's committed finances at Parex Bank.

Dzenītis has a wealth of experience as the deputy director and acting senior deputy director of the SAB (1995-2010).  He has previously worked as a prosecutor in Rīga and as deputy state secretary of the Latvian Justice Ministry (1992-1994, 1994-1995).

“I am delighted that such a knowledgeable and experienced specialist is joining our team.  Given the specifics of the Parex Bank, which has to do with the recovery of substantial amounts of state investments that will unquestionably affect certain economic interests. We can expect that our efforts to recoup this money will face strong opposition” says Parex Bank board chairman Chris Gwilliam.  “That’s why economic security issues are of vital importance to us.”

“Good and experience employees are the foundation of any company’s success, and I daresay that in the case of the Parex Bank, this is a factor that is of particular importance, because recovering the state’s money will depend on the professionalism and hard work of Parex Bank employees,” Gwilliam continues.  “To achieve the bank’s goals, we will need outstanding employees and only outstanding employees.”

Dzenītis’ professionalism is confirmed by the fact that he holds the Order of Viesturs, Second Class, the Gold Medal of Honour of the Latvian Security Police, a medal from the defence minister for facilitating Latvia’s membership in NATO, and a medal of honour for his investment in the development of the Military Counterespionage Service.
