AS “Latvijas kuģniecība” (JSC “Latvian Shipping Company”) daughter company „LSC Shipmanagement” Ltd (Shipmanagement), which provides vessel technical management and crew management services, has received environment management system quality certificate, therefore, confirming the efficiency of environment management system of Shipmanagement, by performing consistent control over company’s vessels regarding environment and implementing effective measures for environment protection.

 

The international management system certification leader „Bureau Veritas Certification” has positively evaluated the work accomplished by Shipmanagement and has recognized that company’s  environment management system complies with the requirements of environment management system ISO 14001:2004 standard regarding ship transport management.

 

“The questions regarding environment protection and ecological situation in the world become more and more important with every year, especially in the shipping industry. In order to improve the company’s activities regarding environment protection, the decision was made to base it on the ISO 14001:2004 standard. By carrying out certification of the environment management system, the company has significantly increased its competitiveness in the international market, by establishing client confidence about the company’s effectiveness and responsible attitude regarding environment protection. By introducing the effective environment management system, the company has gained also from saving of the expenses, by decreasing consumption of the raw materials and energy, and producing less amount of the waste”, states Ansis Zeltiņš, the chairman of the Management Board of Shipmanagement.
