JSC “Ventspils nafta” (VN) informs that it has received a letter from JSC “Latvijas Centrālais Depozitārijs” (LCD) where LCD confirms that no list of shareholders for a VN shareholders’ meeting has been issued, therefore no legal VN shareholders meeting can take place next week.

According to the Financial Instruments Market Law only shareholders who are included in the list of shareholders on the date of entry prepared by the LCD are entitled to participate in a shareholders meeting. In accordance with the Financial Instruments Market Law the date of entry is 6 working days before the shareholders' meeting.

The shareholders’ list issued by LCD is a key element for any shareholders’ meeting to take place and to be considered legal. Since LCD has confirmed that no list of VN shareholders has been issued on 25th May, 2010, which would be the date of entry for a meeting held on 1 June according to LCD information, VN management stresses that any attempts to organize a meeting on 1 June, 2010 are clearly illegal and advises all VN shareholders not to trust the misleading information on the dates of annual shareholders meeting.
