SIA "SPV Distributor", the subsidiary of SPI Group,
acquires a number of alcohol industry companies
RIGA, January 5, 2010 – Holding company SIA "SPV
Distributor", part of "SPI Group", having previously received
approval from the Competition Council of Latvia, has acquired
alcohol industry companies SIA "S. Alko", SIA "MONO M", SIA "L.D.V"
and SIA "S.D.V".
"In the situation when in a short period government has
rapidly changed taxes a number of times, recession has reduced
purchasing power of population, retail chains continue to
concentrate their purchasing power, the increase of the business
concentration in the alcohol industry is inevitable", says Kārlis
Andersons, authorized representative of SIA "SPV Distributor" and
Chairman of the Management Board of AS "Latvijas
balzams".
This acquisition is in accordance with "SPI Group"
growth strategy, which is aimed to broaden beverage portfolio
offered by group companies, and strengthen its distribution network
in the Baltics. Therefore consumers will be offered previously
known and new brands with high quality delivery service and
detailed product information. The acquired companies will be merged
with other SPI group companies in the region to increase efficiency
of administrative and logistics functions.

acquisition
SIA "SPV Distributor" is a holding company which owns
alcoholic beverages wholesale company SIA "AV&D" and alcoholic
beverages importer SIA "Interlat".
SIA "MONO M" and SIA "L.D.V." are importers of alcoholic
beverages. SIA "S. Alko" is a wholesaler of imported alcoholic
beverages. SIA "S.D.V." is a holding company which owns Estonian
alcoholic beverage wholesale company OU "Divinum".
SIA "MONO M" and related companies in Latvia distribute
such consumer loved brands like "Russkij Standart" (Russian
Standard), "Zelenaja Marka" (Green Mark), “Remy Martin”,
"Metaxa", “Jagermeister” and others. In 2008 State Revenue
Service ranked SIA "L.D.V." and SIA "MONO M" as the 16th and the
17th largest companies in the list of alcoholic beverages producers
and importers in Latvia. Previous owners of theses companies regard
this transaction as successful completion of their business
interests in this industry.
