Parex banka’s new Council
 
As previously announced new Supervisory Council of Parex banka was elected on 19 December during the extraordinary Shareholders’ meeting of the Bank. In accordance with the decision made during the meeting the following members are elected in the Parex banka’s Council – Rolands Paņko, Andžs Ūbelis, Kaspars Āboliņš, Gints Freimanis, Carl Hakan Kallaker and Žaneta Jaunzeme – Grende.
Rolands Panko, since 1997 holds position of deputy chairman at „Morgtage and Land Bank of Latvia”. From 1998 to 2002 he was employed at „Riga Stock Exchange” as member of council.
Andzs Ubelis is the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Latvia and is also heading the Managing Authority for EU Structural funds and EU Cohesion funds in Latvia. Prior to that he held the position of the Counselor for Regional Policy and Financial Instruments. Since 2007 Mr. Ubelis holds a MSC of International Economics and Public Policy from Cardiff Business School of Cardiff University and MA (DEA) of European Law and Policies from the Centre of European Studies at the University of Nancy.
Kaspars Abolins has gained sufficient experience as the representative of Latvian State in the Council of Directors at Nordic Investment Bank holding the position of Alternate of Director since June 2008. Since 2006 Mr. Ablolins is the Treasurer of the State Treasury.
Gints Freimanis from 2004 to 2008 held a position of the senior advisor to the Executive Director of the Baltic and Nordic countries at the World Bank Group. Having attained an international diploma in public policy from “Ecole Nationale d’ Administration” in France, Mr. Freimanis was the Deputy State Secretary Ministry of Finance and was heading the Managing Authority for EU Structural funds and EU Cohesion funds in Latvia.
Carl Hakan Kallaker has an extensive experience in international banking and Latvian banking sector. In 1999 Mr. Kallaker was appointed by EBRD and Bank of Latvia as management consultant for rehabilitation and restructuring in Rigas Komercbanka. From 1999 throughout to 2001 he was the President and the Chairman of the Board at the First Latvian Commercial Bank, Norddeutsche Landesbank Group, afterwards taking up the responsibility of the Senior Advisor to Norddeutsche Landesbanka, NORD/LB Hannover. Currently, Mr. Kallaker works at PIRMA AB and provides advisory services to financial institutions in the Baltics, Nordic countries and the CIS. Mr. Kallaker holds a Master of Economics from the Business School of Economics/University of Gothenburg.
Zaneta Jaunzeme-Grende currently holds the position of Chairman at “Latvian Chamber of Commerce”. Since 2007 she is also employed at SIA “Marsh” as the Chairwoman of the Council. Having obtained a Master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Latvia in 2000, Ms. Jaunzeme-Grende is currently pursuing her Doctor’s degree at the “BA School of Business and Finance”.
