The competition announced by the Supervisory Board of Latvia’s transmission system operator AS “Augstsprieguma tīkls” (AST) for the position of Management Board Member responsible for Development has received 41 applications. 

In the second round of the competition, shortlisted candidates will be required to prepare their strategic vision regarding AST’s key future challenges, providing insight into the most important priorities and proposals for their implementation. 

Among the mandatory minimum requirements for candidates are an academic higher education degree or a second-level professional higher education degree in engineering sciences, natural sciences, law, management sciences, information technologies, or another comparable field. In addition, candidates must have at least three years of continuous work experience in a managerial position in a medium-sized or large company or institution. Candidates must also have experience in managing IT functions or in managing large infrastructure projects with a total project value of at least EUR 1 million. 

Additional desirable requirements include experience in change management and the implementation of innovations, the application of digital and information technologies, as well as process optimisation, improvement and efficiency enhancement. Desirable qualifications also include an understanding of current developments in IT and trends in the energy sector, as well as knowledge of the energy sector and the regulatory environment. 

Candidates’ leadership competencies are assessed in the following areas: results orientation, development orientation, change leadership, team leadership, and building and maintaining positive relationships. Results orientation and development orientation are defined as key competencies. 

The selection and assessment process for the position of AST Management Board Member (Development) will take place in three rounds and is carried out by the nomination commission in cooperation with the recruitment company SIA “Eiro Personāls”. Applications were accepted from 9 March 2026 to 30 March 2026.

The nomination commission responsible for the selection and assessment of candidates for the position of AST Management Board Member (Development) comprises: Olga Bogdanova, Chair of the AST Supervisory Board; Juris Zīvarts, Member of the AST Supervisory Board; Laura Līne, Legal Counsel at the State Chancellery, Cross-Sectoral Coordination Department, Corporate Governance Division; Agnese Strode, Head of the Policy Planning Unit at the Latvian Employers’ Confederation; Sigita Škapare, Member of the Management Board of the State Ltd. “Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre”; and Lilita Vagale, Chair of the trade union “Enerģija”.
