AS VALMIERAS STIKLA ŠĶIEDRA (Registration No.: 40003031676, legal address: Cempu iela 13, Valmiera, LV-4201) (hereinafter, the Company) would like to inform you that on November 1, 2019 the Company starts cooling and emptying high silica oxide content glass melting furnace No. 3.0 in order to stop the furnace and begin the scheduled reconstruction.
The reconstruction works are expected to take place from 1st November to 29th November, 2019. From 30th November production of glass fibre will gradually resume. The reconstruction will result in a significant increase in a production capacity of the furnace, which is expected to have a positive impact on availability of high silica oxide content glass and its products. Full capacity of the glass melting furnace is due to be reached in the first quarter of 2020.
The reconstruction of the furnace is a project that was carefully planned and prepared over an extended period of time. The Company has completed all the required preparations to ensure that the reconstruction takes place as quickly as possible and with minimal impact on the performance of the Company during this project.
The total investment value of this reconstruction project is EUR 1.8 million, and it is expected that the life cycle of the reconstructed glass melting furnace will be up to five years. Thanks to the increase in the capacity and output of the furnace, the Company will create ten new jobs in production departments to ensure servicing of the furnace and efficient further processing of manufactured products.
