On April 2nd year 2012, 12:00 there was a ceremony held in
Liepaja on second of patrol ship “Cesis” delivery, which was
ordered by Latvian Naval Forces to build by Rigas Kuģu Būvētava
(RKB). “Cesis” is the scond SWATH (Small Water Area Twin
Hull) type military ship out of five, which are built for
needs of Naval Forces. The ship will not only be used for naval
needs, but also for civilian targets – human search and
rescue in the sea. The Patrol ship building is fulfilled according
to Contract as of 21st of December of year 2007 concluded between
Ministry of Defence and RKB on building and delivery of five patrol
ships. The Contract is foresees, that Ministry of Defence will
receive all five of the patrol ships till year 2014.
Patrolships have names given: Skrunda, Cēsis, Viesīte, Jelgava and
Rēzekne, which were the the most important freedom fight places in
Latvias historical regions.

Rimants Štrimaitis the Commander of Marine force flotilla, Chairman
of the Board of Rīgas kuģu būvētava Vasilijs Meļņiks and other
officials will take part in this formal ceremony.
