The vessel is designed to service as a border patrol ship in the Baltic sea, with ability to operate anywhere in EU territorial waters.

The ship will be equipped with state of the art oil recovery and fire fighting systems and with its top speed of 15 knots it can quickly react to oil spills and fires at sea. Oil collecting capacity is 200m³/h. The ship will have two electric motor driven azimuthing thrusters with high speed nozzle propellers, which will give it good speed, superior maneuverability, bollard pull and ice-going abilities.

The vessel is designed to operate in all weather conditions, all year round. It is based on Finnish border patrol ships Tursas and Uisko that have been in operation since 2004/2005.
