In the beginning of April 2011 JSC „Rīgas kuģu būvētava” will receive first, out of five, the german sub-contractor Abeking & Rasmussen” built Latvian naval patrol vessel.


Coast Guard swaths (Small Water Area Twin Hull) type patrol "Skrunda" (prototype) was designed and constructed based to contract with Ministry of Defense as of  December 21st, 2007.

In the beginning of April the patrol vessel “Skrunda” will be in Latvia and everything will be prepared for the transfer of it to Latvian National Armed Forces.

 

JSC “Rīgas kuģu būvētava” is still in process with of its own built patrol vessel “Viesīte” construction. The hull has been finished, it remains the installations. The vessel is to be accomplished by August 2012.

JSC „Rīgas kuģu būvētava" informs that it is not quite clear, what was meant by the author of the article, when he said, that “estimated costs of building of the ships are to be 15 million Euros (9.9 million lats) during three to four years” and there are no comments on that.

 

The initial amount of Shipbuilding contract is 38 million lats. Approximately half of this amount the company has received in advance. Received funds were used for design, raw materials, and ship equipment procurement, payments to subcontractors and for the modernization of production facilities.
