Leading producer of alcoholic beverages in the Baltic States, JSC Latvijas balzams, together with its parent company, global producer and distributor of beverages, Amber Beverage Group (ABG), has announced that the company is standing firm with the people of Ukraine after Russian troops encroached further into Ukraine. The companies have donated financial resources to the initiative Stand With Ukraine to provide support where it is most necessary.

Latvijas balzams, together with other Group companies in the Baltic States, is ready to offer dozens of jobs to Ukrainian citizens. In cooperation with organizations, all Amber Beverage Group companies in the Baltic States, including Latvijas balzams, are ready to coordinate the provision of necessary supplies for Ukrainians who had to flee their homeland, working with organizations to help purchase or provide necessary materials.

Intars Geidāns, Chairman of the Board of JSC Latvijas balzams, commented: “We cannot silently observe what is happening from the sidelines. Together with much of the world we are sharing sadness and deep concerns due to the escalating situation in Ukraine and we are looking for practical opportunities to help. Military action in Ukraine is unacceptable for us and we aim to offer support to the people affected. Apart from the donation, we will be looking for further opportunities to give aid to our near neighbours.”

He added: "Today, more than ever, I want to emphasize that Latvijas balzams and Amber Beverage Group are global companies. Our brands, such as Riga Black Balsam, Cross Keys Gin, Moskovskaya Vodka and others, are internationally recognized brands, they are produced mainly using raw materials purchased in Europe, which we plan to continue to do."

The company acknowledges that the escalation of the military and political situation potentially will affect its operations, but the potential impact is currently difficult to assess due to the high level of uncertainty and the rapid development of the situation. ABG companies are ready to take an innovative approach to finding the best solutions to reduce business risk and help people that are in trouble.

On February 26, 2022, Amber Beverage Group informed its 2,000 employees and partners around the globe of its position, and the ABG and Latvijas balzams teams are working to assess the potential impact of the situation. An action plan for the successful and sustainable operation of ABG companies is being developed and is already being adapted to the changing situation.
