On July 20, 2021 the President of Latvia Egils Levits met with representatives of companies “HansaMatrix” and “Lightspace Technologies” to discuss the latest smart technology developments around the world and Latvia’s contribution to the global innovation of these technologies. Having been introduced to the work of the companies, President Levits praised the development of the augmented reality products produced by the companies and used throughout the world in various areas, such as medicine, car manufacturing etc. The development of smart technology companies in Latvia was also discussed noting the importance of cooperation with local science centres and funding availability for research. The successful collaboration between “HansaMatrix” and the University of Latvia in elaborating scientific themes and the opportunity to obtain European Union funding for developing products and research were mentioned as good examples.
