 RKB Renovating “Cape Tees” Ship

The joint company Riga Shipbuilding Company (RKB) has begun to renovate another big tanker this week.

The company is renovating a tanker “Cape Tees" - its hull is being cleaned and repainted with anticorrosive paint. The tanker also has a significant amount of mechanical and additional systems repair, as well as test and re-certification of safety and rescue equipment.

“Cape Tees” sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands and is registered at the port of Majuro.  The ship is 228 metres long and 32 metres wide, and it can carry 42,010 tons of cargo. The ship was built in China in 2009.

The plan is to complete the renovations within the next week. Although tanker’s place of main activity is Atlantic Ocean, the repair location was chosen in Riga, and the decision indicates a high assessment of RKB's quality.

As has been reported in the past, in April RKB finished the renovation of tankers “RN Murmansk” and “Arctic Blizzard". Contracts have already been signed on the renovation of other ships in the near future.
